Breadcrumb List markup describes the relationship of a WebPage to its parent pages, providing information about hierarchy and categories. Typically, Breadcrumbs are read from left to right, starting at the most general parent page and becoming more specific. This support document explains how to author Breadcrumb markup using the Schema App Editor.

How To: Author Breadcrumb Markup Using the Schema App Editor
Step 1: Create BreadcrumbList Data Item
Use the Schema App Editor to create a data item for the page you want to mark up. In this support article, our example will be the Schema App Integrations page.
Step 2: Create a ListItem Data Item for the first Breadcrumb
Copy the URL and the name of the first Breadcrumb.
The name of the ListItem should be the same Breadcrumb text. The URI should be the page we are marking up. The Type should be List Item.
Step 3: Add "item" and "position" information to the ListItem Data Item
Once you click Create, you will need to open the full data item to edit the "item" and "position" properties.
The "item" property is where you will paste the URL you copied for the first breadcrumb. The "position" expects an integer that denotes whether this breadcrumb is first, second, third, etc. in its list.
Step 4: Return to the Breadcrumb List Data Item and Repeat Steps 2 & 3
Use the "Data Item Used By" section to navigate back to the BreadcrumbList data item.
From here you will need to add data items for each of the remaining Breadcrumbs. In our example, we have 3 more instances to add:
- Knowledge Base
- Collection Page: Schema App Integrations
- General
Step 5: Review Your Work with the Rich Results Test
Once you have completed your breadcrumb list, you can test the JSON-LD using the Rich Results Test.
