May was about security, accuracy, and steady performance. Schema App now signs you out automatically after a period of inactivity, with shorter session lifetimes available for organizations that need them. Entity Hub reports now stay closely in step with what is actually deployed on your site, and Internal Entity Linking gained working type restrictions along with a more measured, dependable rollout. Around the platform, sign-in is faster, validation rules reflect Google's latest guidance, and the editor now supports Schema.org version 29.2.
Automatic Session Timeouts for Stronger Account Security
Schema App now manages session lifetimes to help keep your account and data secure. When a session expires, the app automatically signs you out, clears the screen, and returns you to the login page, so your work is protected if you step away from your computer. Sessions last two hours by default, and organizations with stricter security requirements can have a shorter session lifetime configured, such as 15 minutes. If your organization would like a different session length, your Customer Success Manager can help set it up.
More Accurate, Up-to-Date Entity Hub Reports
Entity Hub reports now reflect only the entities that are actively deployed on your site. Manual cache clears and changes to External Entity Linking tags are now reflected in the reports for the related entities, so what you see in a report matches what search engines see on your pages. Reports also record when they were last refreshed, and the Entity View updates correctly after each daily scheduled update. The details shown in report pop-ups, such as Schema Markup and lists of entities, now match the report row you selected, and highlighting in the Entity Hub tree displays correctly.
Internal Entity Linking: Type Restrictions and a Steady Rollout
Internal Entity Linking (IEL) tags now fully support both type restriction and type* restriction, so you can control precisely which kinds of entities are linked on your pages. IEL is rolling out to a select group of accounts, and each account now has its own processing rate, which keeps entity linking fast and reliable for everyone. Because pages are processed at a measured pace, it may take up to one week for all eligible pages and entities to be identified, and accounts on Robots-Only Deployment may take a little longer. Our Internal Entity Linking Setup article has been updated with these details.
Other Improvements at Schema App
- Schema.org 29.2 and updated validation rules: the platform now supports the latest Schema.org vocabulary, version 29.2, including its new properties. Validation rules for Articles were refreshed and now share their required and recommended properties with DiscussionForumPosting, and Merchant Listing rules reflect Google's updated guidance on energy efficiency. The AggregateRating ratingValue check clears as soon as a valid value is entered, and the Editor now shows only accurate validation messages.
- More reliable Highlighter Extension: cloning a subtemplate highlight now completes quickly and creates a full, independent copy. Elements targeted by an override XPath are now highlighted on the page with the correct XPath shown for each subtemplate, the JSON-LD preview loads dependably, and the Highlighter overview page lists each of your page sets exactly once.
- Faster, more dependable sign-in: we optimized the way Schema App checks your account details at login, so signing in to the app and loading the Highlighter Extension are quicker and more consistent, including for organizations with large, complex accounts.
- Accurate Deployment Monitoring and notification emails: Deployment Monitoring emails now report results for the correct day with accurate status details, and notification emails are reliably sent whenever your account activity matches your notification settings.
- Deployment and WordPress updates: for accounts using Robots-Only Deployment, the Schema Markup Validator has been added to the list of accepted bots, so you can validate your deployed markup directly with that tool. WordPress customers can now activate their license smoothly and securely download the Advanced plugin for review.
- Security and reliability: we continued our enhanced security work across the platform, updated a number of underlying components, and made routine data model enhancements behind the scenes.
In Brief
May 2025 strengthened account security and improved the accuracy of the data you rely on. Schema App now signs users out automatically when a session expires, with a two-hour default and shorter lifetimes available on request. Entity Hub reports now reflect only actively deployed entities, show when they were last refreshed, and display consistent details in their pop-ups. Internal Entity Linking supports type and type* restrictions and processes each account at a steady pace, with results appearing within about a week. The platform also moved to Schema.org 29.2, refreshed Article and Merchant Listing validation rules, made the Highlighter Extension and sign-in more dependable, improved Deployment Monitoring and notification emails, and added the Schema Markup Validator to the accepted bots list for Robots-Only Deployment.
