Person Markup for About Page

Modified on Wed, 7 Jul, 2021 at 10:35 AM

This tutorial goes through how to mark up the information for a person on an ‘about’ page, for example. The ‘about’ page on our website talks about the founders, so we are going to add the person markup.

Go to the schema app and click on home, and click on the shortcut for person.

It’s going to ask you to give a name, and the URI or URL that references that person. It will bring in all the different properties from the person property. Fill in all of the information fields that you know or that are relevant. You can also add an image from a URL that exists already.

If you need to create an instance for Nationality for example, you can put in the URL for Wikipedia or another relevant website. For example, we added Dutch and entered the Wikipedia page for that.

The “same as” property allows us to put in other references such as social media profiles.

When you save it, it pulls in everything that you’ve filled out and now you have several options. This will be pulled into WordPress if you have the plugin. If you wanted to get the JSON, you can click on the dial and click “Get JSON-LD.” You can check your code from the Structured Data Testing Tool or the Schema Markup Validator to ensure you don’t have any errors.

Now, when you visit your page on WordPress, the post JSON-LD will appear at the bottom of your page on the back end.
